Omnibus Young Filmmakers Project
Omnibus Young Filmmakers project is a project which aims to select 7 young filmmakers under the age of 26-years-old and give them the opportunity to make short films to be combined together in linear timeline. With this project, we hope to give the young filmmakers a platform to both share and connect with their fellow filmmakers. We also aim to give these young filmmakers more exposure in both the commercial and independent Malaysian film industry.
Project Status: Script Development Stage (April 2017 updated)
An incident happened in this kind of low cost building.
Alll the young filmmakers require to create their own character and tell a story base on the regulation we set.
Tan Chui Mui (Executive Producer) has worked as a columnist for local newspapers and magazines. She directed a number of short films before making her feature debut Love Conquers All in 2006, which won a Tiger Award. Her work is characterized by a poetic style that she uses to depict stories about personal growth. She has had the honour of being a jury member for various festivals, including Rotterdam.
Jacky Yeap (Producer) born at Taiping, a small town which looks like Paris, it is a peace, quiet, and slow rhythm place. In year 2015, he graduated from University Malaysia Sarawak with major in film making. When he was young, he love to watch Malaysian Drama because he felt that the environment shown in the Drama make it look “very Malaysia”. Then, he decided to visual method to capture “Malaysia” and share it with peoples around the world. Jacky has produced 4 short films, and all of them had one similarity, that is a shot showing [I Love You Lau Shu Lin] is appeared in all the films. He said, all his films must show this shot until the girl see the film.
Sheryl Chong (Producer) was born in Kuala Lumpur, a not-so-small city which does not look like Paris. She’s done a few short films (Moving, Cinta Kopi part of Buku Fixi’s Kopi Omnibus) and helped in a few more but she is mostly proud of being part of the team behind uncurated and haphazard short film screenings - local collective Filemmakers Anonymous. Feeling that short films from yesteryears were more fun and unpredictable, she’s decided ironically to try a more curated approach towards short films in hopes of discovering something new about Malaysia once again.
